Poached Pears

Juicy pears gently poached in Apple & Ginger with a splash of vanilla

Serves: 4


  • 5 ripe pears
  • 500ml Apple & Ginger juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Half a lemon
  • Whipped cream or similar to serve


Peel & core the pears, then gently poach for ten minutes in the Apple & Ginger juice, with the juice of the lemon and the vanilla extract. Cool in the pan allowing the pears to soak up the flavours of the juice and vanilla. Serve with whipped cream or Greek yogurt.

Cawston Tips

  • Leftovers can be sliced and eaten with porridge the next day.
  • If you only have a couple of pears just use a little less juice.
